BBC Three and BBC Worldwide have co-commissioned Extra Gear, a new Top Gear show presented by Top Gear host Rory Reid. Filmed at the famous Top Gear studio, each week Extra Gear will bring fans exclusive new footage, interviews, specially-recorded films and behind-the-scenes access to Top Gear. Fans will be able to get closer to the action than ever before with Extra Gear, which will be available to view on BBC Three’s live page and BBC Three on iPlayer straight after Top Gear finishes on BBC Two.
In this packed final episode of the series, Top Gear team mates Sabine Schmitz and Matt LeBlanc join Rory and Chris on the sofa to talk about their Porsche 911 film and discuss their favourite upcoming supercar releases. Rory heads to MG Live to get the fans' reaction to the new MG; we go behind the scenes to find out how the Top Gear supercars end up in studio; Chris Harris meets his match by taking the BMW i8 hybrid supercar round the test track; we lift the bonnet on the new Mustang V8 for a closer inspection; and finally reveal the Stig's Lap in the Ford Focus RS.
Comedian George Lewis joins Chris Harris and Rory Reid for Extra Gear. In the first episode, Rory goes trackside at Dunsfold to watch Chris Harris put five brave celebrities through their paces as they set lap times in the all-new Reasonably Fast Car. Chris and Rory join George in the studio to delve deeper into their epic Kazakhstan adventure and what it's like to be one of Ferrari's chosen ones.
Extra Gear goes behind the scenes of the Alfa Giulia film and shows just how tricky it is to drift a car through a hole in a wall. Also featuring extra scenes from Matt LeBlanc and Chris Harris's USA supercar challenge, and Chris takes his first super-saloon love, the BMW M3, around the Top Gear track and falls in love all over again.
In the third instalment of the series, Extra Gear lifts the lid on how to film a DB11 at speed down the runway at Dunsfold. George and Rory bond over their shared love of the Fiesta and find out where all the boy racers went from the modified car scene. And Sabine drops in to talk Golf GTI Clubsport and overtaking on the Nurburgring.
In this week's instalment of Extra Gear, Chris, Rory and George get under the bonnet of the new Bugatti Chiron. Chris shows us that luxury isn't just about cruising and takes the Bentley Mulsanne Speed around.Tribute to Jaguar; Boris Johnson is "The Star in a Reasonably Priced Car."
George and Rory go off road UK-style with the help of two British King of the Hammers drivers. Eddie and Sabine join the guys to talk about King of the Hammers and Chris laps the Ultra4 around the Top Gear track.
Rory and Chris tell us what it was like driving across Cuba together. Chris gets his hands on the Nissan GTR Nismo and takes it round Dunsfold, and Ross Noble stops in to explain his love of large machinery.
Extra Gear kicks off with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Rory's Suzuki Ignis film. Presenter, journalist and self-confessed 'car pervert' Jonny Smith joins Rory in studio along with Off Road camera specialist Duncan Barbour to talk all things four-wheel drive and family estate cars. Chris gets another chance to drive the Porsche Panamera Turbo but this time it is around the Top Gear test track and it is the S E-Hybrid.
Extra Gear gets a bit sideways with former British Drift Champion Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith as he puts the Mercedes AMG E63S new drift mode to the test. Award-winning motoring journalist Henry Catchpole and Super Cars of London’s Paul Wallace join Rory in the studio to talk super saloons going four-wheel drive. And in this week’s Harris Hot Lap Chris gets his hands on Britain’s super saloon, the Jaguar XJR 575.
In this week’s instalment Extra Gear spends some time in Tokyo with one of the most sought after Porsche tuner’s in the world, Akira Nakai of RWB. Rory is joined in studio by the son of the three-time F1 World Champion Jack Brabham, racing driver David Brabham, and race engineer David Lapworth to discuss the all new Porsche GT2RS and the Bentley Speed 8. Chris gets another go at the Bentley Continental GT but this time it’s around the Top Gear test track.
This week Extra Gear has full paddock passes as Team Top Gear battle it out at the Birkett Relay in their six grand luxury cars. Rory is joined in the studio by fellow Birkett competitors, race engineer Al Lock and driver Ash Hall from Team Brit. Bruno Senna also joins Rory to talk all things endurance racing and the road to Le Mans. And Chris gets a chance to take the Team Brit Fun Cup Beetle around the Top Gear Test Track.
In the final episode of the series, Extra Gear gets a behind-the-scenes look at how to film a Lamborghini Aventador screaming around a race track. Rory is joined in studio by motoring journalist Vicky Parrott and Rallycross driver Kevin Eriksson to talk everything from the Fiesta ST to the all-new Aston Martin Vantage. Chris gets behind the wheel of the Audi R8 V10 but this one is rear-wheel drive.
Extra Gear is back for a series packed full of Top Gear exclusives, special guests and even more motoring madness. In the first episode Texan tuner John Hennessey and Sabine Schmitz join host Rory Reid in the studio to celebrate all things V8. Rory gets behind the wheel of an MK 1 GT40 with 1969 Le Mans winner Jackie Oliver, and Chris Harris takes a Vauxhall VXR8 GTS R around the Top Gear test track.
